Browsing Our Website
Why do you charge a fee to access the manuals database?
It took many weeks & countless hours of work just to place one manufacturer's technical data within this database. So imagine how long it took for us to enter all data available. We only charge enough to cover all our cost. We are not interested in making huge profits. (even though it would be nice)
What browser should I use to best view your site?
This site has been optimized to use the latest browsers. Either Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Mozilla all should work fine. Older versions do not support some aspects of Active Server Pages. To insure maximum performance, make sure you are using a newer browser.
What kind of computer do I need to access your website?
It all depends how fast you would like to view the data. The faster the computer, the better the access. I would recommend any machine with lots of memory (at least 16MB RAM) and of course at least a 28.8 modem.
Why do I need to set my display to 800 x 600 or higher?
It makes it easier to view all data on one screen instead of scrolling from one side to another. You can also display better graphics, and words can be read more clearly. We have recently added new features to automatically adjust to your browser type. This like any other technology, has its limits.
How exactly does your search engine work?
All data is stored in massive database tables. Once you type the keyword to search for, It automatically finds all matches and displays them, along with any available nicknames or descriptions.
PDF Documents
What is a PDF document?
PDF is a file extension used to denote documents of the Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). PDF files contain text, diagrams, graphics, photos and more, allowing them to look exactly like original documents. This makes them an ideal choice for storing technical and instruction manuals in digital format. PDF documents are searchable and can be opened on nearly any operating system, including Palm OS and Pocket PC devices. The format has become the standard for electronic information exchange. More information on the PDF format can be found at Adobe: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/adobepdf.html
How do I open a PDF document?
A PDF document reader is required to open files with the PDF extension. The latest version of Adobe's Reader can downloaded for free from Adobe: (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html)
Why won't my PDF document open?
If you are having difficulties opening a PDF with Adobe Acrobat Reader, we recommend that you first update the reader to the latest version. If the PDF will still not open, look for a solution at Adobe Support: http://www.adobe.com/support/main.html. If you suspect that the PDF is corrupt, please email us. One of our staff will contact you within 24 hours.
Viewing & Downloading Manuals
How do I find a manual?
Manuals can be located several ways:
- By using the quick manuals search bar.
- By browsing by manufacturer or category.
- By browsing all manuals.
How do I download a manual?
After a manual is located either through a quick manuals search, or by browsing by manufacturer, all matching titles will form list of manuals that can be clicked. Doing so will either allow you to view the manual online, or allow you to download the manual for future viewing. Depending on whether you are logged in or have an active subscription, you will see a link with one of three messages:
- If you are not logged in, or if you are a new customer, you will see a link labeled "Login". This link will bring you to a page where you can enter your login information or create a new account.
- If you are logged in but have not yet purchased a subscription, you'll see a link labeled "This manual requires a subscription to download". This link will bring you to a page where a subscription can be purchased.
- If you are logged in and have an active subscription, a popup window labeled "Download" will allow you either view or download the manual.
Subscription Plans
How do subscriptions work?
Tech-man.com provides manuals on a subscription basis. Manuals are not available for purchase individually. Rather, a subscription to the Tech-man.com service allows for unlimited access to the manual database during the subscription period. Subscriptions are available for periods of time ranging from one day (24 hours) to one year. We keep track of all the subscriptions that are purchased. When the active subscription reaches its expiration date, its status will change to expired. You may then reactivate the subscription at anytime.
How long is my account active for?
When a subscription is purchased, it becomes active immediately. Your account will be set according to the subscription length that was purchased. For example, if you were to purchase a 24 hour subscription at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, the subscription would expire at 8:00 PM on the following day.
What happens when my subscription expires?
When you login, you will informed that your subscription has expired, and you will no longer be able to download the manuals contained in our database. You may then purchase additional access time. Once payment is processed, there is no delay in reactivating your account. There is also no need to login again as long as your current session hasn't expired.
Can I add more time to an existing account?
Yes. Even when you have an active subscription, another subscription can be purchased and placed in waiting behind it. When the active subscription expires, the next "pending" subscription will be made available, though it will not become active itself until the next time the user logs in. It functions as though a new subscription was purchased as soon as the previous subscription expired. The new subscription does not become activated until the user logs in.
I am a service technician for a small company. Can I access the manuals database on any computer at any location?
Yes. All you need to know is your company's UserID and password. You will then be given access anywhere in the world at anytime. Please note that single user accounts will only allow one person at a time sharing the same UserID & Password at any given time. You must wait 10 minutes after the other person logs off before the server will allow you access.
I manage a large Central Station in Texas. Can we offer our dealers access to using your manuals database?
Absolutely. As long as you have signed up as a MASTER DEALER ACCOUNT. As a master dealer, you can add, edit, and delete as many sub accounts as you wish. You can also view, print or fax anything you wish to the dealer.

Do I have to have a Paypal account in order to purchase a subscription?

If you would like to use your credit card simply proceed to Paypal secure payment and then find "If you do not currently have a PayPal account." Click the button that says "click here".
